Their chests heaved as they frantically scrambled up the worn wooden steps. Neither of them daring to look back, for even a second could mean life or death. Fate reached the door first, grabbing the knob hard and twisting it, putting all his weight against the door as it flung open. He waited half a second for Graves to tumble in behind him before both of them turned and closed the door with a loud thump, their bodies pressed against it with all the weight they could muster.
